Nintendo have revealed a new line in the Switch series, the Nintendo Switch Lite. A slimmer, lighter, portable-only version of the original Switch.
Currently priced at £199, the Nintendo Switch Lite does away with Docked TV play and will only offer handheld mode. The overall console and screen size have been reduced, in order for a more portable experience.
The Joy-Cons are no longer detachable and are built part of the console. The HD rumble, IR camera and Kickstand are also missing in this revision.
The good news is that the D-pad has been overhauled to a more traditional style. The battery life is slightly longer than the original Switch, with the specs stating approximately 3-7 hours of gameplay as opposed to 2.5-6.5 the original Switch offered.
Smaller console size means the weight has been dropped. The specs say that the Nintendo Switch Lite weighs 275g. That’s 123g lighter compared to current Switch (with Joy-Cons attached).
Finally, the console has been confirmed to come in three different colours: turquoise, grey and yellow.
Nintendo Switch Lite will be arriving on the 20th September for £199.99.
